18th COMMANDANT OF AFCSC RESUMES DUTY
 

Change, they say is the only constant phenomenon. The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) yet witnessed another milestone in the history of the College as Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Sunday Ali Leks handed over College leadership to the new Commandant, Air Vice Marshall Ahmed Tijjani Mu’azu.   The impressive ceremony took place at the Commandant’s Conference Hall of the prestigious institution.
AVM Leks in his opening remarks said he came to the College virtually a year ago with a vision that is, “To create a conducive environment for Command and Staff Training that is comparable to any in the world for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces”. According to him, “I have put in my best to achieve the vision within the limited available resources and the support of the committed staff”.

In the remarks he highlighted some of his modest achievements, which include, the introduction of a Master Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies (MIRSS) for the Senior Course (SC) programme, renovation and upgrading of infrastructure in the college. He was also striving to include a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Administration in conjunction with Kaduna Polytechnic for the Junior Course (JC) students.

Furthermore, the out- going Commandant urged his successor to see to the full implementation of the award of the PGD in the JC programme. AVM Leks expressed delight and joy to hand over the college leadership to AVM Mu’azu who he described as a very competent and brilliant officer, who he also believes will brings new infrastructural transformation and development to the College. He congratulated the new Commandant on his new appointment and urged him to continue to work hard and remain focused.

 The new Commandant AFCSC, AVM Mu’azu responded by saying that he sees himself as extremely lucky to take the mantle of college leadership from AVM Leks, whom he described as a visionary and intelligent leader. The new Comdt expressed appreciation for the detailed briefing during the Handing and Taking over ceremony. AVM Mu’azu named him as a role model who has been a source of inspiration to everyone.
He assured the out-going Commandant that he will continue from where he stops, by promising to sustain the tempo of the ongoing welfare and infrastructural transformation.AVM Mu’azu equally requested the out-going Comdt to avail the College with his wealth of experience whenever the need arises.

Before his appointment as the Commandant AFCSC, AVM AT Mu’azu was the Air Officers Inspection (AOI) at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Abuja.
