Captain Yusuf Jongas Hinna, the Director of Logistics
Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, was
born on 23 March 1960 at Difa in Yamaltu/Deba Local
Government Area of Gombe State.
He had his Primary and Secondary education between
January 1967 to June 1978. Thereafter, he attended
one-year preliminary studies at the University of
Maiduguri from October 1978 to June 1979. His Military
career commenced with the cadet training at Defence
Academy, Kaduna in June 1979 and graduated in December
1981. Between January 1982 and June 1983, he served
on Nigerian Navy Ships (NNS) RUWAN YARO, OBUMA, ENYIMIRI,
and SIRI for his Cadet and Midshipman Sea Training and
was commissioned a Sub-Lieutenant in June 1983. |

COURSES ATTENDED
Captain Hinna has attended several military courses. These are Sub-Lietenant Technical Course at Indian Naval
Ship VENDURUTY Cochin, August 1984 to 1985, Nigerian
Army School of Signal Pre-degree course January to
August 1987, Junior Division Staff Course from January
to June 1991, Signal Communication Specialization Course
at Nigerian Naval Ship (NNS) QUORRA from September 1992
to October 1993 and Senior Staff Course at AFCSC from August 1994
to July 1995. He had also attended some civil courses
amongst which are Higher Diploma in Electronics and
Telecommunications Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile-Ife between September 1987 to December
1989, and Post Graduate Diploma in International
Relations and Strategic Studies, Lagos State University
from October 1998 to February 2000. He is currently
undergoing a Master Degree Programme in Peace Studies
with National Open University of Nigeria and Post
Graduate Diploma in Financial Management with Kaduna
Polytechnic.
APPOINTMENTS HELD
In his military career, he has held several
appointments some of which include: Watch Keeping Duties
onboard some Nigerian Navy Ships, Base Communication
Officer NNS URHIAPELE now Nigerian Naval Training
College Sapele; Executive Officer NNS EKUN and SIRI
while in Monorvia for ECOMOG dutires; Staff Officer
Grade II Coordination National War College Abuja;
Military Observer duties with the United Nations Mission
in Angola; Assistant Director Plans Defence
Headquarters; Executive Officer NNS UMALOKUN; Directing
Staff AFCSC; Commander Naval Task Group and Chief of
Staff OP RESTORE HOPE in Niger Delta; Command Operation
Officer Western Naval Command; Commanding Officer NNS
AYAM; Director of Plans Naval Headquarters and currently
Director of Logistics AFCSC.
DECORATIONS
Captain Hinna’s decorations include the Republic Medal,
Silver Jubilee Medal, Meritorius Service Star (MSS),
Operation Liberty Medal (ECOMOG) and United Nations
Verification Mission in Angola (UNAVEM) Medal.
HOBBIES
His hobbies include traveling, swimming,
reading philosophical books, gardening and Animal
husbandry.
MARITAL STATUS
Captain Hinna is married and has 4 children (3 boys and
a girl). |
