MEET THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS

Brig JB Samuel FSS MSS DSS psc(+) ndc

Director Department of Land Warfare

Brigadier General Samuel John Babatunde was born on 27 Mar 1954 in Lagos. He hails from Lagos Island local Government Area of Lagos State. He attended the Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos from 1967 – 1971, Igbobi College, Yaba – Lagos from 1972 – 1973. He also attended the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna/ University of Ibadan (member of 19 Regular Course)1975 – 1977, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst England1977 – 1978, and the National Defence College/ Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad Pakistan 2003 – 2004. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on the 7th of Apr 78 as a 2Lt and posted .into the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery. He was promoted 2Lt in 30 Dec 75, Lt 30 Dec 79, Capt 30 Dec 83, Maj 30 Dec 88, Lt Col in 30 Dec 93, Col in 30 Dec 98, Brig Gen in 30 Dec 03.

Brig Gen Samuel holds the Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS) Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Passed Staff Course with dagger - psc(+), Command and Staff College Commandant’s Tie of Merit – First in Order of Merit Senior Course 14, Chief of Army Staff’s Letter of Commendation – First in Order of Merit Senior Course 14. He is also a Fellow of the National Defence College - ndc

HOBBIES
His hobbies include Reading, Driving and Listening to good Music.

MARITAL STATUS
He is married to lovely Mrs Elfrida Folusho Samuel, and they are blessed with 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl).
