MEET THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS

   

   Air Cdre SA Leks    DSS psc (+) fwc MSc

Air Commodore Leks was born at Daika in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on 7th August, 1955. He attended Boys Secondary School Gindiri from January 1970 to June 1974 and passed out with a Division 1 in WASC. From there he proceeded to Government College Keffi (1974-75) for HSC. He joined the Nigerian Air Force as a potential pilot in 1975 and was commissioned as a Regular Combatant officer in January 1978. He has attended many courses, held several appointments and earned some awards and honors.

COURSES ATTENDED
Air Commodore Leks is a graduate of the Junior Command and Staff Course Jaji, Royal Air Force Staff College, Bracknell and the National War College Abuja. He started his flying career at the then Primary Flying Training School, Kaduna in 1976. From there, he proceeded to Oxford Air Training School, United Kingdom and MBB, Germany in 1976 and 1978 for Basic and Advanced Helicopter Pilot courses respectively. Subsequently, he did type rating and Helicopter Instructor Pilot courses at Tarbes, France, Fort Rucker-Alabama and a conversion/instructor pilot upgrade at Torzok-Russian Federation respectively. He has flown the Bulldog 123 Primary Flight Trainer, Enstrom F/28A, BO 105, Puma, UH1 (Huey) and the Mi-35 P Attack Helicopter. He has logged about 2500 flying hours.

 

APPOINTMENTS HELD
Air Commodore Leks has held several appointments including Admin Officer 23 and 27 Tpt Sqns (1978-1985), Commanding Officer Academic Wing, 305 Flying Training School (1988-89) and Safety Officer 288 Simulator Group (1989-90). Others include: Military Assistant to two successive Air Officers Operations (1990-1994), Directing Staff-Command and Staff College Jaji (1994-96), Commanding Officer 207 Wing and Group Operations Officer-Special Operations Group as well as Military Airport Commandant Port Harcourt (1996-97). He also served as SO 1 Coord-National War College, Group Operations Officer – Air Weapons School, Kainji, Chief Instructor (Air Faculty) – Jaji and Command Operations Officer, Tactical Air Command, Makurdi. Other appointments held include: Commander-97 Special Operations Group (2002-2003), Commander 303 Flying Training School, Kano (2004-2006) and Director of Safety, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Abuja. He is the current Director Department of Air Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
 

DECORATIONS
At Primary Flying School, he graduated as the Best All Round Cadet of Student Pilot Course 14. He also won the Prize for Best Air faculty Student in Academics-Junior Division Course 2 of 1986. He has the psc Dagger, Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Diploma in Aeronautics, Diploma in English and Masters in Strategic Studies (UI). He was promoted to the present rank in 2004.


HOBBIES

He is a golfer.


MARITAL STATUS

Air Commodore Leks is married to Susan and they have two children, Rinret and Makvreng.
