MEET THE PAST COMMANDANTS

   

  AVM AO OGUNDANA DSS psc (+) fwc CON

Air Marshal Olusegun Ogundana was born on 17 August 1950 at Eriti in Ondo State. He enlisted into Nigerian Military as a boy soldier in 1964 and attended the Nigerian Military School Zaria, he was posted into the Nigeria Army during which time he gained admission into the Nigeria Defence Academy in October 1969 as an Air Force Cadet. On completion of his cadet training course in 1971, he was awarded medals for being the best All Round Cadet and the best Air Force Cadet. He proceeded to England in    April 1971 for Engineering Officers Course at Royal Air Force College, Cranwell. He was commissioned as a Regular Combatant Officer on 11 March 1972.

COURSES ATTENDED
He attended the Senior Command and Staff Course (CSC5) (1982/83) and passed with distinction. On completion of the Senior Course, he was posted to the Engineering Wing of the Ground Training Group Kaduna as the Engineering Control Officer. He attended various aircraft engineering related courses

including Engineering Management Course at British Aerospace, Hull in 1984. Thereafter, he was posted to 305 Flying Training School (FTS) Enugu. After short spell as the Officer Commanding Operation s Support Wing in 305 FTS Enugu, he was posted to CSC (Air Faculty) in September 1984 as a Directing Staff. At the end of 3 years as Directing Staff, he was posted back into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and he held various appointments.


APPOINTMENTS HELD
He held several appointments at Flight, Squadron and Wing levels between 1972 and 1978 before attending the first Junior Command and Staff School from January – June 1979. Thereafter, he was posted as the Officer Commanding, Officers Training School, NAF Station, Kaduna: an appointment which he held for 18 months before being posted to Air Transport Group (ATG) Ikeja as the Engineering Control Officer.
 

In September 1990, AVM Ogundana became the Air Provost Marshal, Nigerian Air Force. In 1992, he was posted to the Logistics Branch, HQ NAF as Director of Supply, an appointment which he held before being selected to attend National War College (NWC) Course 2 in 1993. On completion of National War College Course which he passed with distinction, he was posted as Commander, Nigerian Air Force Station, Jos. In 1995, Air Vice Marshal Ogundana was posted to the National War College as a Directing Staff. He was later the Director, National and Military Strategy at the National War College, Abuja before he was posted to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as the Deputy Commandant. In June 1999, he acted briefly as the Commandant of NDA before his posting to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji on 19 July 1999 as the Commandant.

His hobbies are reading and traveling.

 

MARITAL STATUS

AVM Ogundana is married to Titilayo Tokunbo (Nee Kayode). They have 6 children: Bukola, Sholabomi, Kikelomo, Olumide, Korede, and Damilola
