MEET THE COMMANDANT

Air Vice Marshal Ahmad Tijjani Mu'azu DSS psc(+) fwc Msc

BIRTH/EARLY EDUCATION
AVM Ahmad Tijjani Mu’azu hails from Gombe LGA of Gombe State. Born at Gombe on 6 Sep 57, he had his early education at Gombe, Kaduna and Maiduguri between 1964 – 1975. He obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in Jun 75. The Senior Officer joined the NAF as a potential pilot in Jun 76 and was commissioned Plt Offr in Jan 79. He is an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) by speciality.

COURSES ATTENDED

AVM Mu’azu attended Basic Military Training at the NDA (Jun – Dec 76) and Primary Flying Training at PFN (now 301 FTS Kaduna (Jan – Sep 77). He proceeded to RAF Cranwell  for Basic Flying Training. He later attended the Basic ATC course and obtained a Diploma in ATC from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria (Apr 78 Oct 79). In 1981, the AVM attended advanced ATC/Approach Radar course at the Swedish  ATS Academy.  He holds both Military and Civil ATC Licences with ratings in Aerodrome and Approach Control.  The AVM attended the following Professional Military Education Courses: Jnr Comd and Staff Course at AFCSC Jaji (1988), Snr Comd and Staff Course at Ghana AFSC Teshie (1991 – 92) and Defence College (2003 – 04). He was also at the University of Ibadan for MSc Strategic Studies (2004 – 2005). AVM Mu’azu has attended numerous seminars and workshops, the last 2 of which were on ‘National Security and Transformational Leadership’ at Israel and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru respectively.

APPOINTMENTS

Between 1979 – 91, AVM Mu’azu performed purely ATC duties at NAF ATG and 303 FTS Kano deployed on Aerodrome, Approach and Radar control positions and MM Airport Ikeja and MAKIA Kano. Thereafter, he held various appointments as follows: DS AFCSC(1992 – 95), CO ADGE Wg 301 FTS (1995 – 96), Mil Airport Comdt, Kano (1996 – 98), MA – CDS (1998 – 99) SO1 PI HQ NAF (1999 – 2000), CI GSD AFCSC (2000 – 2001) and CI JC AFCSC (2001 – 03). The AVM also commanded 35 BSG (2004 – 06) and 335 BSG (2006 – 07); DRRR HQ NAF (Jul – Dec 07) and DPROD at DHQ (Dec 07 – 24 Oct 08). Until his present appointment as Commandant AFCSC,AVM Mu’azu was the Air Officer Inspections, HQ NAF.
               
PROMOTIONS
         
AVM Mu’azu has consistently benefitted from promotions as at when due as follows: Fg Offrs Jul 80, Flt Lt Jul 84, Sqn Ldr Jul 89, Wg Cdr Jul 94, Gp Capt Jul 99, Air Cdre Jul 04 and AVM Jul 07.

MARITAL STATUS

The senior officer  is happly married to 2 wives and the union is blessed with 8 children and 2 grandchildren
